i pulled code from ecu and out came out

54 =Automatic Transmission Control Unit Signal to ECU

what does this code mean?? what affect will it have if left alone?

someone please help

Get yourself a Haynes manual
Read Chapter Six. It contains trouble codes, descriptions and tests to check to determine what is really happening.

Best investment next to the FSM for a DIY'er.
