I PM'd you.

98 Max

I have a 98 Max and I need to know if I will see the same gains if I get a 96 JWT ecu as a 96 with it would.

you can't use a 96 ECU on a 98

JWT ECU

I agree with everything Neal said. I too didn't note any improvement in the 1/4 mile with the MEVI. My MPHs on average were maybe .5mph faster. I was a little slower in the first 1/8 mile and then faster in the last 1/8 mile. It was pretty much a draw.

Pit a MEVI-equipped 4th gen against one without it at 70mph and the MEVI will walk away.

NOW, with my newly acquired JWT ECU my face looks like this The difference this ECU makes is mind-boggling. Not in my wildest dreams would I have thought that a NA car would react this well to an ECU. My car feels so much stronger from 3000rpms on. This is easily the most notable HP mod I've done to the car. I can clearly tell I'm faster with it especially when entering a gear at WOT. I'm sure Neal feels the same way.

Like Neal said, now that I've got both, I would have done the JWT ECU a long time ago. I can only imagine what the torque feels like with the US-spec manifold. If you've got to choose, get the ECU first. If you've got the means, get both. The performance of the MEVI/JWT ECU is absolutely brutal for an NA V6.

Dave
is the JWT ECU available for the 1997 Maxima ? If so where do I step in line ? I need this !

Okay. You can use a 96 ECU in a 97, but you have to use a 96 ECU. You WILL get a CEL though. JWT can only program 95-96 ECUs. That's it.

Mardigras is running a 96 G-Force ECU in his 98 SO I can only assume you could use a 96 ECU in a 98. Someone should contact Mardigras to confirm this.

Good then..

It's final.

Ordering a 96 ECU now, and going to wire a switch to turn the CEL off until I need to check codes.

Not quite correct. I have a 97 with a GForce-modified 96 ECU and I have no CEL issues. Car runs perfectly. I'm certain a JWT-modified 96 ECU would also provide no CEL issues on a 97.

are there any differences between the GForce & JWT? And which ecu is better compatible with the MEVI for 97 max if anyone knows from experience of comparison?

I have a moddified 1995 JWT ECU in my 97 Maxima and my CEL light is nice reminder of the performance that my car has

Well worth it in my opinion. But thats just my .02 cents.....

Yes the JWT raises the rev limiter and GForce does not.

now that a few more people have gotten both ecu's, which one would u guys say is better for the MEVI?

what is cheapest u can find JWT for and how long does it take?

will a 96 ECU present no CEL for 97 maxima?

i think the org deserves an update on this topic

A raised rev-limiter is an absolute must if you want to see measurable gains therefore the JWT is the only option. The extra 500-700rpms of extra rev allow you to use a more powerful powercurve and to stay in it longer on the shift.

$560 is about as cheap as you'll find the ECU and expect to wait 6-8 weeks.

Some 96 ECUs work on 97s without CELs and some don't. It's the luck of the draw.

OMFG Im so hyped... Getting my JWT ECU TOMORROW!!!!

Since Im autocrossing, I think I will likely not go for the MEVI cause the mid range RPMs of 2nd are where I will spend alot of time. 20 hrs to go!!!

I have a 95 ECU in a 97 - no CEL, but Code 1005 when I pull the codes. (It's a "Ghost Code")
