grille change problem

Hey guys. I recently got my car broken into, and the thiefs cut a hole out of my grille to pop the hood and disconnect the battery. So i ask the auto repair place to replace the 96 grille with a 97 one, and they said it won't fit no matter what they did? WTF?!?! I was reading other threads that said it was a direct plug and play. What's they're problem?

You have to change the bumper or trim down the bottom outer edges of the grill.

If you have the 96 and you change to a 97 grill there will be a small gap between the bumpr and grill.
