location for gauges

I am looking into putting some gauges in my car, but i dont want to get the pillar pods on the side. Maybe this has even been done by some of you guys, but would it be possible to put 2 maybe even 3 gauges into a custom made piece, that fit into the tray on the center console. I think that would look pretty good. Thoughts anyone?

ahh, the feel of a ****pit......

I went that route. HKS has a center console mount, but their gauges cost $300+ . SO, I custom fabbed a mount for three 2 1/16 Autometer gauges in the spot where my open slot was ( Thank god I don't have Bose) SO now I have the pillar and the center mount ( running oil pressure, temp, boost, volts and EGT )

If you don't have the connections to do one, I think I could make another for under $50.
