All right I need to decide whether I'm going to get black chrome altezzas for my black '96 Maxima SE or just let the taillights be. What I need from you is your honest opinions. Will black chrome look good on a black max?

I feel the same way that you do!!! I hate it when I see a black/dark car with clear tail lights...It just doesn't look right. I haven't seen the black chrome up close though - they might actually look good

although i hate being identified as ricers (in most people's view), but i do think altezza is better than stock 95-96 tails... cuz i hate the orange part VERY MUCH.

altezza looks cool @nite, tat's jus my personal opinion =)

Could you possibly put a white bulb in the outside lights? There is a clear/white light next to the big red one, right? I'm asking because I'm thinking of shaving the inside lights and I'd need to put a reverse light somewhere.

Go for the black/chrome, I have a dark green max and they look really good on.

 

I wouldn't suggest doing that, i've seen it done and basically.. it doesn't look good.

i had chrome altezzas, and the only time i liked them was at night. During the day, they were much too ricey. Now i have red/clears, and i'm happy as a fly on ****.

2)Cooler
3)Less Ricey
4)A DIY mod you can be proud of
5)Let ppl know You're unique

If you have a 95/96 i would get cheap e-bay altezzas, and then do the skyline mod...

 

hmm skyline mod does sound good

and i was also probly gonna get the black chrome altezzas...
but i am just afraid that ill mess up on the skyline mod lol

 

if you're getting altezza's get the 2nd gen ones, the first gen one's imo look kinda cheap... second gens look cooler and the black chrome doesn't have a chrome ring around the outside.. but whateve makes you happy.. good luck

NO, dont get Gen 2's... I hear too many bad things about them. Get the new Gen 3's. I am told they are guaranteed not to leak because Gen 2's havnt been fitted properly when being made.
I thought i would mention this, just to put my 2 cents in.

Please take my advice, if you get any Altezza's please get Gen 3's

 

it also depends where you got your altezzas from. I had gen 1 altezzas, and the right one fit perfect, and the left was like 2mm off. Take a look at happyricefob's (i'm pretty sure it's him, if not, rain flames down upon me). They don't fit as well. Plus, i've seen tons of other people's who looked like ****.

 

gen3 ? is it those that looks like skyline tails?

 

go ahead and get em, get a spoiler tooo, and maybe some nos stickers, and a super street window banner..... get my drift?

 

God D@mn I got a lot of responses! Do any of yall think the red/clears will be available soon at custommaxima.com? Cause it seems like they come out w/ new stuff on a consistent basis - like every three weeks. They came out w/ a carbon fiber hood, so I mean if they came out w/ that, they must be working on these red/clears for a 95-96. Plus they're being requested so much. Yall agree? Also, how hard is the doityourself part of red/clears if I ever get em?

 

Oh yeah, and I still don't know what ricey means. I get a sense that it means weird looking. Am I right?

About the Gen 3's. They just came out(assuming this year) and are guaranteed by a car shop not to leak. They are not the Skyline ones with the painted bezel. those are a completely different light. these ones i hear look alot, if not exactly, to the Gen 2's, just fitted perfectly to 95-96 Max. I think Gen 3's are alreayd out for the rest of the model years in the 4th Gen. I found prices for them at around $185.00 US (I am in Canada) Other then that, that's about I can inform you as of right now. I will continue to post new information as it is brought to me.

hmm. those tails look good (well, a hell of a lot better than any other car (besides the Is300). But, maxrookie. id check out the 4 peice red/white config. they're pretty nice (if thats ur taste)
