How To - Removing window trim and door panels?

Allright all, im going for pain on Tuesday and am doing a lot of the prep work myself. I have been trying to figure out how to get the trim off that is around the window. On the GLE its the chrome part. I'm thinking that the door panel has to come off and I can't get that either. I'm sure i could figure it out but im not in the mood to break anything. So how is this done? Coo.

I don't know if you need to remove the door panel but below are some "good" pics and instruction on removing the door panel:

It's really not too difficult

to remove door panel:
unscrew 2 screws at bottom
pop cover off and unscrew screw in the armrest thing
pop off window switchs
pop off cover for doorhandle
pop off light cover
unsrew 2 screws in light
unplug light and windowswitchs
then is should all pop out and slide up
i think thats it , - Brock

Unfortunately you do need to remove the front panels. You have to remove them only so you can remove the mirrors so that you can then remove the triangular trim piece around the mirrors. It isn't hard to remove the trim but you do need to know what you are doing. It would be too much typing and a little hard to describe in words so if you are serious, feel free to e-mail me your fax number and I will fax you the pages from the factory service manual that shows where all the release screws are and which angle/direction you need to push/pull the trim off. And I can throw in a few more tips as well. Let me know.

so is it feasible to buy colored window trim pieces from a junkyard and swap out your chrome colored window trim and door handles on a GLE if you want all one solid color?
