Hi everyone, I was looking at a Maxima to buy early 4th gen. 1995 or 1996 probably. I was wondering what I should have them check for at the dealership when I take it to have it inspected. Also, what problems can I expect from the car in the long run or even at present that would require my attention.

What kind of mileage would I expect from these cars? (ie how long will it last trouble free) I want to get it in mint condition and that is how I will maintain it. What mileage is "too high." Please put yourself in my shoes and advice me.

Thanks.

I bought my 97 early last year with 36,000 on it and i haven't had any trouble. except i broke the wiper motor the other day.

it runs great and gets: city 20-23 Highway 26-29
have to use premium gas tho so it gets a little expensive.
expect to pay at least $20 everytime you fill up.

make sure that you run the vin online with one of those "check'em'out" outfits. i got a wrecked car cause i didn't.

Above all else don't believe anything the dealer tells you. He will say anything to get a car (especially a used one off of his lot)

happy hunting and good luck

I just bought my 96SE two weeks ago. The car has 98K miles on it but it feels just as new as my brother's 97SE with less than 60K miles. I have had pretty good experience with Nissan. I had a 84 300ZX that was running just fine at 190K miles before I decided to move on. If maintained carefully I am sure these cars will last more than 200K miles.
