I am purchasing a universal cat-back exhaust for my 95 SE. I was wondering if anyone had removed their resonator to get better flow and more sound. Is it worth it? How will it sound?

LOUD!

I got a custom 2.5" catback on with no resonator and I was setting off car alarms. And forget any conversations while driving around. Better have a loud stereo. Needless to say, I got the resonator put on not long after.

I have a very different story indeed. I got a 2.25" custom catback exhaust, and it's been great. It's not very loud, and I even have room to add a Ypipe without making too much noise. Our engine helps the sound a lot. I had 2 friends who both had 4bangers who ended up with a tinny sound while the engine was cold. I have none of the above, and my exhaust isn't loud inside either

With my setup, it's hella LOUD!! I'm looking to getting a resonator for my car. Everyone that I've met says my car is loud. I have the Stillen Y, Stillen B, and an Apexi N1 muffler, w/ the factory cat.

Might be my muffler...

...as apposed to my lack of a resonator. The Magna-Flow I have is basically to make it look like I have a muffler. Before they put it on you could look straight through it. (no restriction ) Not mufflin' a whole lot I reckon. Just a pipe with some cotton lookin stuff packed around it. So I guess if you got a muffler that's better at mufflin than mine, you'll be alright without a resonator.

One of the maximas in my auto club put a Naxos exhaust and removed the resonator... It sounds real nice around 5,500-6000rpms.

I just switched from the stock b-pipe to the Courtesy with the small resonator. Much louder and changed the backpressure at various RPMS. 1400, 1900, 2400, and 2800rpm are so loud that I can't keep the thottle there and hear the radio. I like the added ground clearance but geez...
