I'm getting to replace my stock tires with new ones for the summer! Now, I need you guyses help on deciding which one. I'm looking for a tire that can get me off the line quick at the strip and a sticky tire that will keep me glued to the road during high speed cornering.

I'm planning on using the stock tire size 215/55/16 so I'm deciding between the Dunlop Sport A2's, Dunlop Sport 9000's and the Bridgestone S-03's. I've read positive about all 3 (especially the Sport A2's) but I was wondering if it was worth spending the extra $$ for the 9000's or S-03's to get a better performing tire. What do you think I should go with?

 

Sidewinder, I'm in the same boat. Have the Michelins MXV's OEM on my 97 SE and need to replace. I've been looking at the Yokohama 100's and like them. I'm in Georgia so I don't need an all season and these are supposed to be good in dry and wet BUT I'm hesitant about changing tire size. They only come in 225/50 or 225/55 16's. I've read where some guys say to get the 55 so you don't have a big bulge as with the 50s. I have stock suspension so if I went with the 50 series you'd see even more wheel well. Haven't seen what a 225/55 series would look like. Maybe someone could post a picture???? Anyway, I'm looking at the A2's in the stock size. Don't know about the other ones you asked about. I'm sure you'll get some responses and I'll be watching. Cheers.

 

The A2's are in a completely different class then the Z rated S-03's or the 9000's.

If your looking for "Z" rated performance tire, definately the S-03's but I'm not sure they come in 215/55/16 size.



If your looking for all season performance, the A2's are the way to go.

The S-03's are use alot by autocrossers, who don't want to switch tires. I have the A2s and they are a good all-weather tire, but if you just need a high-performance summer tire then I would pick something else.

I had Kumho 712s and in dry traction they had more grip than the A2s, but for rain and snow the A2s perform better.

 

I have driven on the A2's and the 9k's. They are completely different tires for completely different purposes. The 9k's are un****ingbelievable in the dry and the wet. C&D actually tested the stopping distance as being THE SAME in the dry and wet on the 9k's. They said "this is impossible, but it happened" and I believe it. The 9k's are just straight sick tires. The thing is that they're summer tires though. There is absoloutly no way you're going to make it through a winter on them if you get snow where you are. If you are getting different summer and winter tires, get the 9k's, if you're looking for all season tires the A2's are the only choice.

I bought a set of A2's to function as my winter tires based on driving on them in my girlfriend's Civic. I am buying a set of 9k's for my new rims for the summer though. The 9k's actually wear extremely well for how grippy they are. I had my last set of them for quite a while (with constant high speed driving). You'll notice if you get them that you're just all of a sudden able to enter corners MUCH faster than you previously could (be careful though!). The things are just ludicrous on the Maxima.

 

I ran thru 3 sets of the A2's. They were real nice and real cheap in the 205x65x15 size...$59 per tire. But they suck in the snow; I had to switch to an all season tire here in NY.

 

The A2's are all season...and they were as good in the snow as my old Pirelli winter tires...

hard choise but what are the price differances?

 

These are great tires, got them about a month ago. excellent grip
wet or dry, very predictable, very quiet, smooth ride as well. If you
need a tire to get through winter but also want excellent performance
in the summer go with these, you won't be sorry. Also they have a
treadwear rating 400, and are priced very good.

I've never been too fond of continental tires until these came out
and I decided to try them do to the great reviews and low price at tirerack. If they start making their other tires as good as this model they will be the #1 tire manufacture in the world.

 

Definitely take the Bridgestone S-03's.. I had the S-02's and they gripped very nice in wet and dry conditions. But they tend to wear out fast though..
