rear oxygen sensor removal

Can anyone tell me what size wrench I'll need to remove the rear oxygen sensor on a '99 GXE?

Thanks.

I just did this about 2 months ago on our 99 GXE. You need a special 02 socket removal tool for the rear sensor. Because of its location theres no way you can get any type of wrench on it securly enough to even turn it. I used the free loan tool program at Autozone for the 02 socket. Once I had that tool, it took about 5-10 min. to replace the sensor. To purchase a series of O2 sensor removal sockets at Autozone runs about $20.

I used an open-ended long 22mm wrench. That will work too.

On my 99 gxe the O2 sensor is located on the top side of the exhaust pipe and is actually slightly indented. I tried a variety of 22 mm wrenches, but none of them could securely grab the sensor without the risk of stripping the nut. To be safe, I would highly suggest the 02 socket tool.

What do you mean a "series" of sockets? I thought it was a one-size-fits-all kind of thing.

What is the free loan tool program? Does it require you to buy the replacement sensor at Autozone?

Not sure what year your Maxima is but on my 95, the rear O2 sensor needs 17mm wrench, 22 is too big.
