What size tire should i get to go with 17x8 rims. it suggested 235/45? but that was also what it suggested for the 17x7.

Fits both really. Better on the 8 inch though.

The 7 inch should accomodate a 235/45 but you'll have a little tire bulge going on.
The 235 tire itself may even say on the sidewall "DO NOT MOUNT ON A 7" RIM"
I've got a 225/50 16 on my wifes Max and that stock rim is only 6.5 inches wide. the dunlops say not to mount on a 6.5 inch rim. Did it anyway - no problems.
I don't think you'll have any problems mounting a 235 on a 7 inch wide rim.

You should be fine w/ 235/45 on the 7 inch...Fernando Cuco
