Okay guys- I REALLY need an answer to this seemingly worthless question.

Okay,
so as some of you know, I had the Airbag replaced on my 99 because the dealer somehow wrecked the old one during its prep. So, new one is installed and I'm happy for a few days, until it starts to creak and tick over every little bump I go over. If I press along the slope of the airbag, the actual part that faces the passanger towards the bottom, you car hear the the cover creeking over the dash itself as there is a small amount of play. If I stick a wedge like a book of matches inbetween the dash and the airbag cover in the crevice closest to the windshield, and drive around, the cover does not make any noise, but it is still an eyesore being that I just got the car two months ago and paid good money for it. The dealer says I am not covered for squeaks and rattle under my extended warranty- I understand that, but THEY changed the part, so shouldnt THEY be responsable for it not to make such annoying noises? Is there Supposed to be a plasticy creeky noise if you press against the cover? Is ther supposed to be any play on the cover? I can pry the cover up about 1/8 inch. I dont think that I am supposed to be able to do that. SOmebody please help me! I am gonna freak out if the dealer shoos me away. I am thinking of waking up early tommorow to go tot he dealer- What's the deal with your passanger airbags? I know- stupid question- but had to ask.

Go back to them and have them go over the installation process again. It sounds like the airbag may be loose somewhere. This would cause two peices of metal, or maybe other surfaces, to squeak since that are not tight up against each other. They SHOULD cover this because they did install it and it probably did not happen before. Ask to talk to one of the managers or someone higher in the dealership. If you complain enough, believe me, they will look over it again and get you out of there since you may be in view of other potential customers. And, I suggest to go there when it seems somewhat busy, so there are many potential customers lurking around.....

BTW, when you puch against the air bag and the squeaking stops, you are probably eliminating the gap in between the two surfaces rubbing together; keeping them from rubbing together and squeaking.....

Agreed. I'd also let them know that due to the poor installation, you now have safety concerns. Since this is your airbag you could file a safety complaint, go to BBB or the like. I'm sure if you put it that way they will check it out and make you happy. It would suck for them if you filed a complaint with the BBB and God forbid it didn't work in an accident, that would look very bad for them.

Just my thoughts.
