hey guys

I took apart my front pads last week and put anti squeel glue between the back of the pads and the shims... and i'm 90% sure the squeeling has stopped. But, the car still squeels but i am sure it is because of the rear pads. I looked at the rear pads and I noticed they don't have any shims on them. That would be the problem right? I also had a friend stick his head out the window while i braked and he said it was coming from the rear.

Now... i haven't taken it apart yet but i've heard i might run into some problems because of the ABS cable? What is that all about?


Finally, I did notice something weird after i fixed my front brakes. Now, I feel that the wheels make more noise... or i could attribute that to rotating the tires (after 6k miles). I'm thinkin maybe the tires aren't balanced or something so it's making that noise.

ok the noise is hard to explain... the road noise seems to have increased by a little more but it is more noticable im driving under 50mph. It becomes pretty loud and subsides when i am slowing down or braking from 10mph-0mph. What do you think? Could it be the anti squeel glue? I did put a good ammount on the back of those pads... and i do notice that when i push on the brake pedal, it's more tighter. Thanks!

 

To see if it is the rear brakes for sure while the car is makeing the noise lightly lift up on you parking brake until you feel the car start to slow down. If the noise stops or changes it is probably the rear brakes. Its not the ABS cable it is the parking brake cable that will cause problems if you have never done rear brakes before. I haven't done the maximas rear yet but the piston probably screws back into the caliper.
