TSB how do they work?

TSB Number Issue Date TSB Title 02-073 JUL 02 Recall - Alternator Inspection/Replacement

Im not sure how a tsb works. do you bring it to a dealer and they just fix it for free? how do i know if the issue has been addressed?
There is also a tsb on squeaks and rattles. ive got a couple of those.

not sure what to do

thanks
Mike

A TSB is a technical service bulliten, it is just something that has been a noted reoccuring problem in a certain vehicle. There is really nothing you can do about a tsb except know it can be or is a potential problem. If the manufacterer decides to issue a safety recall then in most cases you should be notified by mail if not, you can call nissan of america, give them your Vin # and they will tell you if your car falls under a certain recall i.e. the alternator recall. You can have the recall work done by the dealership under "warranty". In short you have to pay for TSB work, but you don't pay for recall work.

BTW, check out the FAQs at the top of the page there is a list of all TSBs for our car in one of the threads.
