*gauging interest.. Chromed Intake Manifold and Valve Cover

I am getting in contact with my chrome guy about doing some mass quantity intake manifolds and valve covers for 5th gen and 4th gen guys. I think the 5th gens will be easier because there will be less prep sanding than the 4th gens, and if the parts are presanded there will be price breaks.

Pricing would be in the ball park of $350 for Intake Manifold and $250 for the Valve Cover + shipping and a refundable core swap charge.

To get the pricing down I could setup a group price that would be considerably less, but would need about 10-20 people.

Other things could also be done, but more money would apply and time would be another factor.

Just let me know what you guys think, and I will also be looking for someone to start me off with an intake manifold and valve in which pricing would be much lower for that individual.

Keep us posted on any new news. Would the 250 be after or before the core refund?

Depending on how long this will take to get together I would be in. I could also provide you with my Intake Manifold and Valve Cover if the down time won't be too long. I can be without her for a week or so.

It would take about 2 weeks to get back to you from when I receive it. At the most.

I'd probably be interested in this as well. I always wanted to polish those parts, but I'm too damn lazy! It would take me some time to come up with the $600 though. How much is the refund for the core swap?

Core swap for both would be $300 I think.. that's my guestimate until I can find an exact quote from a junkyard.

Right now I am trying to find out what the differences are between each year in the manifold for the 4th gen's.. I don't want to send someone a piece they can't easily put back in, so I may need 2 core units.

You could probably get some cores from here. Myself and others with VIs have little use for our stock manifold, but there hasn't really much of a demand for them.

I know that my '99 manifold is slightly different from the 95 and 97 manifolds. My evap hose is a smaller diameter hose than the other two.

Tony sells polished manifolds and polished valve covers. I am trying to get chromed manifolds and chromed covers. There is a huge distinction between chrome and polished and anyone who is into show shine will tell you that.

Polished pieces will dull out especially with a lot of inclimate weather. Chrome finishes don't wear out, especially if you keep them clean and free of salt deposits or whathave you.

Also if you look at a lot of polished pieces, even mine, you can see where you can't polish some spots as well as others, chrome does not have this problem as it is put on with electricity and it will stick everywhere.

My chrome guy just called me back and said he has no problem doing strut bars and brackets and bolts as well...

I guess I will just setup a group deal now or something of the sort.

I have a core unit for the 95-96 intake manifold and now I have on for a 97-98. I can do the 99 thing as well it would just have to be one at a time or someone would have to contribute one

What's the pricing if I shipped you my intake while the car is down and had it chromed?

Intake manifold or intake?

Intake manifold, there will no downtime because I have a core unit, you just send payment and I have one made and shipped to you and you send me back your core unit.

If you are doing cold air intake tubing or short piping tubing it would be $125 and $85 respectively with downtime on your car because I don't have core units of those.

I meant intake manifold. The car is down now so down time isn't a problem...

Let me know if you want to get yours done, if you send me your unit and I do it I won't charge a core charge, but if you want me to get a unit chromed and send it to you I will need a core fee which is refundable.

The problem is that it doesn't seem enough people have interest plus I'd have to get a bunch or core unit which would be a pain and cost me a good amount.

It's actually pretty cheap for show chrome.. The only thing that sucks is the core charge, which i can't do too much about.

So just the price of having it chromed by you would be how much? Sorry the whole core charge threw me off...

buy an extra intake manifold and don't worry about the core charge.

who is this for? I am not sure people would want to spend $100 on a manifold and then have an extra one laying around, when they could just pay $200 and get the money all back when the deal is said and done.
