cold air intake

hey guys i have got a problem. well i am rebuilding my 96 se maxima and we got the skyline bodykit and it is ready to put on so i decided to do my cold air intake before i put the front bumper on. so i made my own cai, but now when i start the car it starts up and everything but if i let it idle at all it dies. i can rev the engine and it stays running but the second i let it idle it dies. can anyone help me out.

Re: cold air intake

Check all of your vacuum hoses. Make sure they are nice and tight. There are 3 that connect to the midpipe section. Also, check your sensers. There are 2. The MAF sensor and the Air Temp Senser. Make sure they are plugged in correctly.

Do you have a Check engine light?

The check engine light does not come on. The small vacuum lines are connected, no breaks or lossness detected, however the larger vacuum line that goes from the solenoid, by the back head, to the old black box that was between the MAF and the throttle body we have a small filter on.

Obviously a small cone filter is not the way to go. I took off the filter and the problem remains, if restrict the air going into that hose the car will idle properly.

If I restrict the IACV it idles properly, if I let it free flow it will not idle.

your saying you have a breather filter on the end of the little tube that leads to the crank case? that will mess up MAF readings if you do
