Fixed my rear suspension- finally!!! New CarDomain pics on H&Rs and Tokicos!

After all of the creaking and banging finally drove me nuts I took the afternoon off, lifted up the car and set it on the jackstands and reinstalled my rear suspension- this time WITH the rubber isolators that got left out on Sunday.

All in all it took me longer to get the wheels off than it did to disassemble the suspension, fix it, and bolt it back in.

Now I am riding pretty close to level. Check out my cardomain page for pics of the "after" shots!

Here is one shot:

My banging was from accidentally leavign out one of the rubber isolators on the end of the rear strut. The absence of 1" of rubber gave 1" of play to the strut assembly and prevented the suspension from doing its job. Therefore, every time I went over a bump the car was moving freely on the top of the suspension. When the car would "come down" from the bounce it would bang onto the top of the assembly.

Once I added in the isolator everythign was fine. I had also noticed a little rear saggig due to the fact that the rear was lower than it was designed to be (because a 1" spacer was missing). Now with the spacer back in place my ride is almost perfectly level.

I took it in for an alignment today and I hope to get it home soon.

It has settled a little more. I saw another guy on H&Rs at the suspension meet and I thought he looked even lower. The front gap still kills me, but I can live w/ it...
