Shift Lock

Sometimes when I put my car in Park and then try to take it out of park it will get stuck and not move. (yes im holding down teh brake pedal). Is there anyway I can fiz this shift locking problem while in park. I have to hit the brakes a couple of times to get it out of park.

have you spilled anything in your car lately. I did, and I could not even shift the car out of park. Take off the plastic (black) piece around the shifter and look down in there. Press on the brake, and you will see, or feel the piece that is trying to move....basically just clean her up good. I used WD-40, cause it was not budging. Worked like a charm

bingo.....yes the trim piece. It's a piece of plastic that needs to be cleaned up...small, crecent shaped. You will figure it out once your in there...it's right next to a cable that engages this piece ...which allows the button to be depressed all the way in.
