Our mechanic says that if you leave shocks lying around ( not installed) that they will degrade. I think it is BS. Is it?

Well, the rubber parts of anything will deteriorate over time. But it takes years.

Think of how long shocks sit on the shelf before you buy them...

So how long can you let shocks sit without them being unusable?
