I had the ram air intake as well as the CAI and they both had their strong points. The ram air helped up top a lot since it could suck up more air due to shorter and straight piping. The CAI helped on the low end, since it brought all the cooler outside air into the motor. A down point of the RAI is that when you floor it, it sucks in a gush of warm engine air and it lags for half a second, it also isnt as loud IMHO. ive never had the problem of the CAI sucking up water. I settled for something in between the two. I had the PR CAI, but I wanted more power up top. So I removed the extra piping going down into the fender. now it is a shorter, straight pipe that still sucks in cooler air. see pic.

i agree with everything mentioned about the cai. do you want more high end or low end? i have an auto and am more of the stoplight bandit type so i went with the cai for the better low end grunt. there is definatly a slight lag with the hai, but it isnt that noticable.

supposedly it will give you 5-10hp

also something i forgot to mention, with an auto i would go for the CAI definetly, for the more low end power. but with a stick, you already have so much power off the line that i dont know if a CAI woul make a huge difference. thats why I changed my setup to a HAI.

the Place Racing one is nice, but I dont know if the $215 price tag can be justified. My Y-Pipe was only $160. look at JWT and Frankencar as well as the Weapon R intake

Is the injen intake worth it if you dont want to cut your car? Does it give more hp than a JWT?

Personally I think Place Racing Cold Air is the best. Get it from Custom Maxima because they get it a little bit cheaper than paying it straight up the extra 60 some odd dollars. Injen cold are intake is good but does not give you as much power as Place Racing. err what in the hell am I talkinga about? I'm only a punk kid but alot of guys that put preformance parts on there Max use Place Racing..
