My car makes a funny noise that is very noticable while under the hood. It sounds like a vacuum hose or something maybe stuck because it's sucking noise that starts and stops like it's clogged. This very noticable when I pull back the throttle. The mechanic at Midas says it the EGR valve stuck or something. I have located it but I'm uncertain as to what to do to it. Is it something that should be replaced or is it something that can be cleaned?? Other then the sound, everything runs fine. No check engine light or anything, but something is not right.

 

If the EGR valve was stuck you'd get a check engine light.

Do you have an intake, pop charger? If so it's your intake your hearing.

 

I don't even know what a pop charger is. It doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere close to the intake. It seems to be coming from further down right in that EGR area, from the lower back area, not so much along the intake. But I will listen again when I get home

 

Oh and the mechanic said that the EGR was not totally stuck, but that the "plumbing" was not working right and that I would in back get a check engine light when it finally goes bad.
