I'm getting a new motor!

I am getting my greasy hands on an '01 VQ with no harness, starter, or alternator....but everything else. It has 30k miles, and I was wondering if it was worth the extra work/money to keep the VI on it. Since I am not getting the '01 ecu or wiring harness, I was planning on just slapping on my old intake from my '95 5spd SE. I am not big into racing or keeping near the limiter, so I figured the VI would not give me any low-end power that I use the most. If you guys have any suggestions for me as far as pre-swap work or additional modifications while the motor is on a stand, they are much appreciated. thanks

Probally work, if he does it he will be the first, it is basically same motor except Intake Manifold. Hopefully it will clear the hood and firewall, tell us how it goes.

let me know if the intake manifold bolts up to the head, if it does this will be my next mod. It is the same block and bore so clearance should be no prob.

Next you should get an AE valve cover and make it look all nice :D

Who needs a hood and firewall? Isn't that why they made power saws?
More Horses baby! More Horses!

Just think how much lighter your max will be without all that extra steel!

Hey Steve how you doing bro, haven't seen you around lately.Well me,cummalittle, and D'Warner was looking at the VQ30-K 2k-2k1 the other day,and it seem to us that it might work on our 4 gen.It won't heard to try to putting it on(test fit) the chasic and see without hooking up the wires and hose.If it don't have any clearance you can alway put the 4 gen intake manifold back on it.Since it's still on the stand you might as well check out the rear mean seal(or replace it)for leak.Cause it will be very pitty to change it later on.And the front seal is EZer.Well good luck and let us know how it work out.:)

Don't forget that the cams and fuel system are completely different on the VQ30-K.

 Crasy!!!, You need that crap or when you get into an accident, a Motor will be laying on you

That's why people like me need the search....

I was not aware of the different cams in the VQ-K, but I don't think the fuel system will be that big of a deal. I am gonna keep my '95 wiring harness and ECU and basically swap compatable components, too. UNLESS I can find a dirt cheap harness and ECU, I would definitely try to manipulate the hood to get it to fit. These are the responses that I wanted to here, so keep them coming. thanks
