I'm getting a new motor!
I am getting my greasy hands on an '01 VQ with no harness, starter, or alternator....but everything else. It has 30k miles, and I was wondering if it was worth the extra work/money to keep the VI on it. Since I am not getting the '01 ecu or wiring harness, I was planning on just slapping on my old intake from my '95 5spd SE. I am not big into racing or keeping near the limiter, so I figured the VI would not give me any low-end power that I use the most. If you guys have any suggestions for me as far as pre-swap work or additional modifications while the motor is on a stand, they are much appreciated. thanks
Who needs a hood and firewall? Isn't that why they made power saws?
More Horses baby! More Horses!
Just think how much lighter your max will be without all that extra steel!

Probally work, if he does it he will be the first, it is basically same motor except Intake Manifold. Hopefully it will clear the hood and firewall, tell us how it goes.

Crasy!!!, You need that crap or when you get into an accident, a Motor will be laying on you
That's why people like me need the search....
I was not aware of the different cams in the VQ-K, but I don't think the fuel system will be that big of a deal. I am gonna keep my '95 wiring harness and ECU and basically swap compatable components, too. UNLESS I can find a dirt cheap harness and ECU, I would definitely try to manipulate the hood to get it to fit. These are the responses that I wanted to here, so keep them coming. thanks
