need help~
i'm not really familiar with terms for car parts but found out today that this thing in the middle of spring is cracked apart....both driver's side and passenger's side. i think that's what made this weird sound from the wheels when i drive and make turns...not really sure though. can someone please tell me what kind of prob i'm having right now?

it it rubber and look like it is supposed to compress in an accordian fashion? this is your dust boot. it prevents contaminents from getting into the strut or shock. if the tear isn't that bad don't worry. they help to prolong the life of your shocks/struts. if you notice a noise you may have bad springs and/or shocks/struts. or not
