knock sensor Q

Lately my car has been idling rather funny. I have also noticed when I run the rpms up while driving at bout half to lil less then half throttle, I kinda feel surges in power. I remember reading in past posts that surges in acceleration were remenicent of a bad knock sensor. My delemia comes in here tho. The car, from time to time, when idling, drops rpms and idles lower then what I set the base idle at. It also will get kinda rough, like a misfire, but not always when the idle drops. It seems to have the misfire symptoms more so when the engine is cold then warm. Most of the time you will notice that it gets rough while sitting at a light for a lil and the rpms drop (sometimes they drop and it runs fine), but there have been instances (when not totally warm) that it idled rough when at higher then normal idling. I work at a Nissan dealer and consultant shows me having no error codes in the ECU; even the techs dont fully understand the problem. My question comes in here, could the knock sensor possibly cause the idle to drop as well as cause the car to run like it is slightly misfiring from time to time? Keep in mind the car just turned 100K but is well maintained.

NO, not Knock sensor. It only operates above idle when it detects engine ping. You could either have a bad or old fuel filter and/or dirty injectors. Get some Outlaw fuel system cleaner and octane booster and replace the filter. Of course, do the basics first like check for ECU error codes: you might have a coil misfiring....

Checked the codes on Wed and had none still. My car has been doing this for about 6 months now also. Did a top engine clean and fuel injection clean bout 3 weeks ago so I dont think it's the injectors. Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated. Thanks

Cleaning of the Throttle Body and IACV usually cures idle problems.

Done when I did the VI install. Even replaced the IAC just to see if that was the problem. It wasn't. I'm starting to lean towards either the TPS or the knock sensor more and more tho. Still can use the suggestions, thanks.
