CEL (2 codes)

I had my engine light on, so i got the codes today
03 04 (knock sensor) and 07 07 (rear heated 02 sensor) 97 maxima
but I have no idea where the knock sensor is when I go to replace it, I think someone posted a picture before of a knock sensor, can someone please put it on again, and the rear heated 02 sensor I'm not sure which one of the 3 is that one.Can someone please explain this to me little bit more, thanks

0707 is the rear oxygen sensor it is easy to do,so do it yourself. Also the knock sensor is probably a ghost code so just replace the o2 sensor and it should go away.

I hope it's only a 02 sensor , but im not sure which one it is, there are 3 oxygen sesnros, "rear" is that the one nearest to the muffler , i know there is one there and other two are close to the engine

also keep in mind that the rear 02 sensor has no functionality on the car. So change it at your leaisure. It only monitors the cat. It doesn't affect performance

But it burns lots of fuel these days, can it be because of the bad 02 sensor and knock sensor

not rear 02 sensor. That has no effect on gas or performance.

The knock sensor is a ghost code. keep that one out of your head.

How do you guys know its a ghost code, what if i reset my cel and it comes on again and it reads knock sensor again than there must be something wrong with it

my engine light keeps on turning on and off, lets say i drive the car for 30 days with the engine light off and than the next 30 days it will be on ,and than off again and it keeps doing this

bc it came on with your o2 sensor. Or lets say your faulty o2 tripped the cel, anyway put the new o2 on clear the codes and if the ks code comes back by itself then replace it.

When the O2 sensor tripped, the engine was obviously running improperly... causing your knocksensor to become active. Hence a knock sensor code. Replace the sensor, and forget the knocksensor, now that you have been educated.

ok, so the last o2 sensor doesn't affect performance... cool...

but because it's firing the knock sensor... doesn't that drop down all performance? I don't want to reset my ecu all the time... hehe

you can check my website for a pic of the Knock Sensor and where
it's located (click on "Help with Maximas", but, listen to these guys --
just replace the rear O2 sensor, reset the computer, and wait...if the
light comes back on, then I would reconsider replacing the KS.

good luck!
