Injector cleaning

Spring is here and summer will soon follow. Its time to do the annual tune up. I know that the Injector cleaner additives are not recommended.. is there an alternate way to do this aside from taking it to the dealer.. the only time I go there is to get the oil filter... other then that ill try to avoid that place as possible

For about $120 dollars, the dealer should remove the injectors and clean them. Its expensive but it beats a fuel additive.

Or you can get a can of fuel system cleaner from the dealership.. Just put it in your gas tank before you fill your tank..... Then just drive like you normally do....

I really don`t know why Nissan says not to use injector cleaners? Dump a 20oz. bottle of Chevron Techron in you tank, best cleaner there is.

Look closely at the bottle of fuel system cleaner with the pretty Nissan label on it, it should look familiar to most of us.

It's Techron packaged exclusively for Nissan.

On the Chevron Techron, is it better to add it when the gas tank is not full (so its more concentrated) or during fill up time?

How do you clean the injectors when they're off the car? I'm not a fan of additives, but cleaning the injectors would be nice.

dont use concentrated

As stated earlier, if you are going to use cleaner, put it in prior to a fill-up (so it mixes best). If you use it concentrated it can eat seals, etc. A friend of mine did that with a bike, he had to do a lot of work on it after.
Bottom line: The chemicals are very potent and can eat what you do not want if it's too concentrated. Use as directed.

One reason why FI cleaners aren't recommended for the VQ is that they don't have injectors like most other cars. The VQ's injectors are a pintleless design. A pintle is what you probably envision when you think of an injector, a hole with a cone in it that moves back to open the injector. I'm not sure how the VQ's FIs work, but they are not like ordinary injectors. If anyone has any idea where to find info on these injectors, I'd like to know.

The pintleless design is specifically to avoid clogging and reduced atomization of fuel.

Can I get a writeup on the 24 gallon fuel tank mod? I've got some free time this weekend.

You don't want big drops of fuel going into the combustion chamber, you want as fine a spray as possible.
"The pintleless design is specifically to avoid clogging and reduced atomization of fuel."

Let's examine this sentence shall we? We could also write this as "The pintleless design is specifically to avoid clogging and to avoid reduced atomization of fuel" The words "to avoid" are linked to both clauses of the sentence.

Welcome to English 101. I suppose I could have written it to be more concise.
