a cold air intake, rear sway bar and front tower strut brace should be about $300. it would give your car a nice balance of increased handling, horsepower, and engine sound.

They are all extremely easy to install yourself. I did it and I'm a mechanics nightmare. Although my recommendations would be a Frankencar intake and a Budget Y-pipe.. A little over your budget but you have the two best performance mods.

if you are COMPLETELY stock..
i'd get the following 1st if i was you:

1. Clear corners! a must buy.. go to ebay.com and look for clear front turn signal lenses form 95-99 max.. should be less than 35$ with shipping.

if you have a GXE with ugly plastic hub caps.. use the remainder to start saving for some 16 or 17" wheels and tires.

next thing i'd do is tint the windows 120-170$ in NJ most likely.. plenty of tint shops in central NJ.. go to the Northeastern forum and find out there.. this may be illegal in NJ though, at least it is on the front windows.. so it may not be the best idea..

i would consider doing the red/clear taillights if you have a 97-99 as well.. i can help you out for a small fee or you can buy the whole assembly.

other cheap/free mods should be listed in the FAQ at the top.

u can remove the nissan letters and badge from the trunk in the back.. give it a unique look.. get a Front Strut bar from ebay for like 30$ with shipping.. install is easy, anyone can do it..
there is other stuff.. depends on what you care about more.. handling, looks, speed?

I would do a Y-pipe and a FSTB and a cold air intake..... maybe the Rear Sway bar if I had money left over......

Yo ucan get a FSTB (front strut tower brace) on EBAY for about 30 bucks shipped, the Budget Y-pipe is about 160 shipped, and I dont remember the prices of the other parts..... Alot of this work you can do yourself instead of paying someone else to do it....

Guys I really do appreciate all your support thank you so much. Alright what is the difference between say a Stillen, Cattman, and Budget y pipe, I'm definantly going to get a y pipe and have it installed from my local mechanic (very smart, informative, and good prices too btw), and I'll probably save up for one more week and get a Place Racing cold air intake, now I know you got to cut a hole or some **** like that who should I go to for that? And after that getting clear corners from Procarparts.com, and have someone from the .org preferabbly clear out my rears and make sure they match the reverse assembly as well, and then I'll change all the bulbs probably go Polarg or PIAA, and then get tints, and then......???

a front strut bar and clear corner lenses are a joke to install..

you need a screw driver and a ratchet wrench.

strut bar is easy, pop the hood.. take off 3 bolts on each strut top, put strut bar on, tighten 3 bolts.. = you are done.

clear corners have a single screw.. pry out the side marker lense with a screwdriver.. take out the only screw u see.. take out the lens.. disconnect the wire on the back of each lens. connect the wires to the clear lenses, put the screw back in, pop the side lens back in.. thats it..

they are straight forward things that anyone can do.. it's so simple i guarantee you'll understand it when you get to doing it

You can do poor mans cone filter amd homemade midpipe, along with your Budget Y pipe, and still have enough to get your pretty
clear corners.

And then it never ends. Be prepared to start dumping more money into your Max after you do the 1st mods. I agree with most people, get a y-pipe (preferably mandrel-bent from www.warpspeedperformance.com) and an Injen intake (I preferably like the Stillen/Place Racing Pipe hybrid intake) for the most performance for your money. Or, get a front strut tower bar and a rear sway bar for the best suspension for your money, though brand names on bars will vary in how much money you spend, a generic brand strut bar and an Addco rear sway bar from www.custommaxima.com should do just fine, unless you want to pay more money for brand names, get all Stillen bars. For looks, get clear corners, and red/clear your tails, those 2 together shouldn't even cost you more than $50. The rest of your money you oculd put to something else like maybe tinting your windows if your into that. For audio, I truly recommend staying away from the factory cd players, they tend to jam cds and go bad after awhile, they're also veyr expensive to replace and getting an aftermarket cd player is highly recommended. 2 years ago I told myself I would only do like this and that and now I have almost everything possible for the Max and I still have what I'm telling myself is my last mod, but I doubt it, a 5-spd conversion. Anyway, good luck with your money, spend it wisely, theres tons of info on the org on what to get, how to get it, and how to save money by installing it yourself.

Get a CAI off of Ebay, try reddogmotorsports. I got mine for $66 with shipping from CA to SC. The good thing is that if you don't want cold air you can remove the pipe and go with short ram. Next is a FSTB, gotta have it, $30 something from matrix motorsports. Then a y-pipe. Not sure on price range. Look at the other replies. Now what you have there is a sleeper max. You should have money left over, treat your self to some clear bumper lenses, diamond clear of course. Procarparts.com or custommaxima.com are good places to go for aftermarket goodies. One last thing try and become a DIY mechanic; that way if you want to take it off "you can do it", and you know how it works.

I am damn sick of this stupid term being thrown around. Oooh red/clears and you're a ricer, riiiiight. I would understandd if he said, "Go to autozone and go down the isle with the neon shift ***** and purchase $300.00 of anything their, but save enough money for a GTR badge." Anyway listen to luckee or get some lowering springs. Performance and better looks in one. Hope that's not too ricey

alteza's are a ricers domain...not red/clears. Red/Clears are smooth and look oem...whereas altezas jump out at you..thats what rice is...**** that jumps out at you.

Anyways, to answer your question...pick up some clear corners, I look at pictures of my car with stock orange and it turns my stomach. It would push you over your $300 mark a lil, but not much....Budget Y ($160), Frankencar ($158 shipped) Clear's ($35)..so you are looking at $353, and you are sitting pretty.

have you read the FAQ stickied on top of this forum? I suggest that you do... that way you can get a good idea of what's out there to do.

I would recommend FSTB, RSB, and hybrid intake (midpipe + cone filter).

That's about...

FSTB- 30
RSB- 110
HAI- under 100

u have some money left over for clear bumpers too

happy modding!
