Rim scratches

A cab cut me off last week, I had to swerve into the left lane and jam on the brakes to avoid hitting him, which luckily and thankfully I did. However, my left front rim hit the curb on the median and scratched/ground it in 2 places. They're stock SE rims on my 97 black max so I'm also happy I didn't buy 18s and then have them fuct up. Not TOO bad, but obviously noticeable to me. Anything I can do to fix it up at all? I'm thinking of filing them down a little b/c there's some sharp "hairs" on them and then just cleaning/polishing them. Probably all I can do, unless anyone has other suggestions?

And, I've got a complaint letter with the cab's # to the Hackney unit of the Boston PD, that's all I can do really. If I want money for a new rim I'd have to take the cab driver to small claims court. Other than giving him a large piece of my mind right after it happened, that's all I've got to work with. Happened on Mass Ave in Roxbury, dicey place to drive sometimes.

Boston cabbies are notorious for cutting people off, and Mass ave is notorious for just being a horrible road. You're talking a good 5 minutes from stop light to stop light during rush hours. It can easily take an hour to go a few miles. I've seen cabbies in the left turn only lane cut across the middle of an intersection to go and make a right turn.

sorry i cant help with the wheel though

That's alright, at least you know what I'm talking about. They're crazy and I know it's not just Boston either.
