Just cleaned tb....

Before I cleaned the tb, I noticed some hesitation when I accelerate with downshifting. Like when I was cruising at 2.5k rpms in 2nd and give it some gas, the car was not smooth, it would hesitate a bit and shake. I cleaned the tb and it's very smooth now. It pulls smoothly to redline now with no hesitation. Maybe a tiny bit cause I still have to change my fuel filter which is clogged up and get new plugs.

If you haven't cleaned out your throttle body yet, go and do it. Only takes like 10mins with a dry rag. NO need to buy spray.

actually, i think that a dirty TB causes the engine to idle higher.

Paul, how did you take the intake out to clean the TB, i had trouble because there isn't much room to take it out. also what parts of the TB exactly need to be cleaned? i know it's easy but I want to do it right...

I thought it idles lower. I had posted a while back about low idle and a lot of people had asked me to clean the TB citing that it had to be dirty to cause low idle. I still have low idle and I am going to clean the TB this week-end.

I agree.

after you clean your TB, it will idle HIGHER until
the engine recognizes the change and normalizes...

My 96 Maxima was idling low (around 400 rpm) and I cleaned the TB, and the RPM went up to almost normal.... I have a few other problems, but cleaning the TB did do some good though.....
