Y-pipe installed..........

I had a mechanic install my Budget ypipe today. First he was asking $70, but I eventually brought it down to $50 which isn't a bad deal. The other Exxon wanted $135 for the job!How much did you guys pay for the install?

I notice a big differece in acceleration throughout the powerband, especially in 3rd gear on the highway. Actually, on my way home I was messing around with this 5th gen Prelude hittin up to 90mph on rt.46. NO race but it was fun.

There's also a sound that comes up above 4k rpm. It kinda sound like a turbo spooling up! It's probably not normal but it sound cool as hell! Other than that, you can't hear it at cruising speeds, at least not from inside the car with windows open.

I like that sound.
The sound I don't like is the ticky air noise on acceleration.
Actually, I don't hate it THAT bad, but it is weird.

I paid $125 to install mine but that was because i broke 2 out of
3 of the bolts on the rear precat when i tried to do it.

it was a bad day.

You should have paid the shop liek 25 bucks to have all your bolts replaced, then gone home and do it yourself. Thats how much my shop charged.

I gave my friend fifty bucks to do mine , while my car was on the lift I installed my sway bar. Got two things done at once wich was well worth the fifty bucks to me.

I thought it was just me. I have n odd sound too, more noticable as the RPM's go up. Just sounds like an odd leak or something.

I took it to meineke, and asked the dude to loosen the bolts. He said he'd do it for free, but I gave him $15 cuz I felt bad. Then I went home and put that sucker on myself.

The first time I was scared to do it myself, so a local shop installed it for $60 after calling around a bunch of places and them giving me the legal BS...2nd time around, I installed it myself with a friend, and it's the best thing I could've done...pretty simple install with the right tools

i have had 2 different y-pipes in my lifetime both warpspeed, first one cost 65 and the other cost 55.

The y-pipe helps out the middle powerband to high powerband and really kicks in at about 3k+ depending on how heavy you accelerated to 3k, thats why you hear it most around there, its a nice *** sound.

hope to see u on the track this friday
