EVAP control valve

Does anyone know how to replace the evap control valve in a 97 SE? I checked the code, and that's the diagnosis. Also, I've heard that I might need to change the knock sensor with, and something else also. Are there instructions on how to do this (not sure if this is something that can be done at home). Any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What were the codes? Were there two? I had two trouble codes on my 97 GXE. You most likely dont need to replace it, it probably just needs to be cleaned out. Do u have a Haynes manual for your car? That would be a good investment Here's what I did:

1) Put the car up on ramps (use all safety precautions )
2) Located the EVAP control valve (located behind driver's side rear wheel)
3) Disassembled the unit and all the tubes running to it
4) There is a little plunger that gets stuck in the open position, and all u have to do is squirt some good ol' WD-40 on it and move the plunger up and down with a flat head screw driver, or whatever else u might have
5) Reassemble everything
6) Reset your ECU
7) Drive around a little just to make sure the CEL doesnt pop back on
8) Sit back and relax in knowing that u just saved yourself about 100 bucks!
