I'm going to add these to my Maxima. I was wondering if it is tough to do it yourself on a 5 speed. Also, where can I buy all the stuff I need for a good price (Belts, bolts, etc.)? Is removing the stock pulleys difficult by hand and wrench or should I go out a buy an impact wrench and other air tools? Thanks. Any other input would be much appreciated.

If you have a breaker bar, it shouldn't be a problem.
If you're a little dude like me, it'll take a little umph to break it loose (150lb-ft or higher).

Other than that, the install is pretty straight forward.

Getting it loose is easy!

You have some one hold a socket with a long breaker bar that touches the ground onto the bolt while you bump the starter. The force of the starter wedges the breaker bar against the ground and then the crank bolt gives! It worked like a charm!

To tighten it you need to have some one sit in the car, put it in 5th gear and hold the break down. Then you try to tighten the crank bolt with your torque wrench. If you are strong you can do it by your self, or you may need a third friend to help you get to ~150ftlbs.

oh yes

Sorry for the confusion. I was thinking of my friend's prelude pulleys. I looked up the application for the maxima and is just one pulley. Well, as long as I get the gains I'm hoping for, it doesn't matter one pulley or three (I guess they only make one pulley). One more thing, from my understanding, I will need to get a new Alternator & water pump belt, as well as a power sterring belt? Where would I go for that? Thanks.

Heres what the instruction say,for belt sizes,

Alternator and A/C-Gates K060408
Power steering- Gates K040292{Alternate K040300}<<???,
As far as finding a place that sells these belts, try a search on yahoo or go to your Local Napa/Pepboys etc. and tell them the brand and models #'s I listed above and they should either have a Gates belt in that size or another brand that is the same size.

Matt,
You know I tried that with my auto, but it didn't work. I cranked it twice and all I heard was the starter gear grinding. Anyway, I called around for labor rate. It ranged anywhere from $90 to $300. I went with the $90 place. It took about 2 hours for the UDP. I got them to installed my Y-pipe since they said they could do it for $30. Took them another hour. They said the Y-pipe was harder than it looks. They now charge around $150 for Maxima Y-pipe install =). I guess I ruined it for the rest of the Max owners in my area.

I guess my starter was built on a good day at the plant!

It took only three bumps. At first I was skeptical, but Sinewave(Kieth) insisted it would work and not damage anything. He was right.

$30 for a Y install, WOW. What kind of Skimask and gun did you have!

I think I found a place that is 2 miles from my house that sells the blets for cheap

I called around and this place has the Gates alternator and water pump belt for $15 and the Power Steering belt for $7. If this is really cheap and anyone needs belts, ask me.
