anyone own aem air bypass valve?
Well school is about done so the Bomz cai sitting in my room will be installed soon, but im worried about the water factor. I live in NY so it rains heavy sometimes so I want opinions if anyone has installed the AEM air bypass valve on there own CAI. I read that you need to cut the pipe for its install so Im kinda worried about that part. I plan on installing the CAI with a K&N filter so I would like to know if its worth it. thanks
dont quote me on this but I believe that AEM claims that 3 in of groundwater could make its way into your intake. ive been told you would need to drive thru 6in to a foot of water for your CAI to breath in the water...dont kno tho
I dont think you need on for the Max, The pipe doesnt go low enouph and the Place where the filter goes is protected by like 3 sides, Well to be 100% safe ya a Bypass valve is good, But it restricts air flow like a Crasy Nut, I got the Same CAI, I only got the short ram installed currently but Im gonna install that and my Exhaust soon
if u live in a dry area where it doesn't rain much (ex. CA), u don't really need it... plus ur K&N will be sittin 7" above the surface, and if ur dropped... it shouldn't be anywhere lower than 5".... u got those plastic covers all around ur filter and the K&N filter is not tat big.
bottom line is...i jus think it's a waste of money.
