300ZX Brake Conversion

Hey there, Just wondering if anyone has done the 300ZX Turbo Brake conversion? And if so, what are the parts that were used? I know the Rotors, and the calipers, but do you need the control arms or anything else? any help would be great. Thanks again

All you need is the rotors (milled down 3mm of the radius), the calipers, and I'd recommend 300ZX to 240SX conversion lines from www.heavythrottle.com. As for the control arm, you will need to grind away a little bit from where it connects to the bottom of the steering knuckle.

As for feel, I "feel" they stop me better. When I have to stand on it, they do perform better then my stockers did. The caliper is a floating four piston setup as apposed to the stock maxima single piston sliders. In essence, you have two pistons on either side pushing against the rotor putting a more equally distributed force on the rotor. The rotors are also thicker which means they can take more heat retention. Bigger rotor = less fade. The only problem I run into is from hard stops at round 110+. They will fade after that or repeated hard braking. I am in the process of fixing that, though, with ideas my 300ZX buddy has shown me. As soon as I can get to the machine shop at school, my car will be sportin 12.5" rotors (11" stock which are cut down by about 0.24" in total to fit on a Maxima).

Yes, the 3Z rotor must be milled down by 3mm off the radius (6mm off the diameter). If you want cross drilled rotors (which still have to be milled down), you can go to www.heavythrottle.com or www.pdm-racing.com .
