I was looking for anyone with any opinion on the Stillen cross-drilled rotors. I have a set of Porterfield pads on SS brake lines that I am planning to install soon and was wondering if I should just add these rotors while I'm doing the work. Any positive/negative feedback appreciated.
Thanks!

most of the stillen batches were defective and I heard they warp easily. Stick with powerstop X-drilled, thats what i'm using for my rears now.

Had them for almost a year now and no warpage whatsoever. They are brembo blanks that are drilled by stillen. I don't know if they are defective, I have never even heard of that. If they were I never experienced it. I was running them all the way around until I upgraded my fronts.

I had very good experiences with Stillen X-drilled ...

I had a pair of X-drilled rotors for my 92 SE and they did wonders for my braking ability. Never had any warping or cracking, follow the break-in procedure (included with installation instructions) and evrything should be fine. I actually ran my brake pads down to the point where it began to cut into my Stillen rotors. And they not only brought me home safely but they were hardly damaged despite the awful sound of caliper on rotor.

Powerstop(Autospecialty) makes some at cheaper price. Porterfield can also get you some that are Brembo blanks that they cross drilled. Bill99GXE is the person to ask. He goes through rotors like I go through wheels =)

The Stillen rotors work fine. I started out with their brake and rotor setup, and swapped out to Porterfield pads later when I realized the Stillen Metal matrix pads need warming up before they get effective. The Porterfield/Stillen combo works fine and warpage/breakage isn't a problem. Note: Warpage will be a problem on ANY rotor if you let the guys at the tire shop go ape with the air wrench!

and I go through brakes like Russ2kse goes through new cars....

Anyhoo, like Tony said, you can get Brembo blank rotors (the EXACT same rotors used by Stillen AND Porterfield) sold under the Autospecialty name for the following prices at carparts.com (Assuming 4th gen Maxima here):

Front Rotors:
JBR-505 for $45 each

Rear Rotors:
JBR-752 for $43 each

Check http://www.importhookup.com for the latest coupon codes. You should probably get the $30 off $100 order. Buy a Trico Wiper Blade or something to get the cost over $100 and enjoy the 30% discount...

Cross-drilling/slotting really isn't necessary. However, I believe that cryo-treating is for keeping your rotors warp free for a long time to come. Therefore, have carparts.com ship those rotors to a place such as http://www.onecryo.com to have them cryo treated. That will run you $25 for each rotor plus shipping from one cryo to your door. For less than $200, you get rotors that *should* last you 60k easy.....E-mail Rocky@OneCryo.com for further info/details/arrangements....

Good luck!

How much

does this setup cost? Do you have to change the caliper also or just the rotor and pads? Does it fit right to your factory setup? I am looking for an up grade but don't want to spend a whole lot of money if you know what I mean.

What kind of modifications do you need to run the cross-drilled, like are 17's a neccesity? Or are they the same dimensions as the stock rotors?

The setup costs as much as you want it to.

cross-drilled rotors are nothing more than stock size rotors with holes in them

These should help some:
