fuel gauge problem
fuel gauge problem
Hey everyone,
Last night the max was filled up, I even squeezed in about another half gallon into the tank after the pump auto stop kicked in. So theoretically, the float was all the way at the top so there could be no movement. Everytime I fill up the gauge actually goes past F and stays there for a day or to. This has been the case with all my cars in the past. But last night, my fuel gauge after filling up did not go past 3/4 of a tank. After driving around for 5 min, the gauge went up to F, but not past it, then it dropped back down to 3/4 and went back up in the course of a few minutes. I parked my car dfor about an hour and when i got back in, it was a little past 1/2! then it slowly went back up to under the F mark. I know that there is a float in the gas tank that tels the gauge how much gas there is left and that its postition is relative to the position the car is resting in, but at a full tank, there shold be no room for the gas tank gauge to fluctuate, is there something else that should be checked besides the float that could be the sourse of the gauges erratic behavior?
