what are the Best Additives to use In the Max??

i dont really like to use additives and never have done so , i am afraid that it would make something bad happen with the car

if someone has used any kind of additive for their car(fuel cleaners, oil additives, engine life extendors, etc) and have noticed an improvement in performance or ride quality , please post

i have 120,000k now on my max and would like to make my car ride smooth again, i cleaned throtle body, did full tune up, change oil every 2500 but still think im lacking in power

Have the fuel injector and transmission flush done along with a fuel filter change at the dealer if you haven't done so already. Knock sensor is also a common failure item that can rob the engine of power.

Don't go to gas stations that put MTBE in the gas. MTBE leaves behind carbon deposits in the engine.

This may be a dumb question, but what is MTBE? And how do you know if it is in the gas or not.

1. Throttle Body Cleaner
2. Redline Fuel Injection Cleaner
or Chevron Fuel Injection Cleaner (with Techtron)
3. Tighten you Throttle Cable (you might not be getting Full WOT)

Then rest you ecu to see if that helps out a little bit.

mtbe is methyl tertiary butyl ether..its an oxygenate. they put it in gas to increase the octane rating when they use lower octance gas. like 89 plus 10% mtbe = 90 or 91 gas. also it adds more oxygen to the gas making it burn cleaner. puttle less crap in the air. health people say its cancerous.. ethanol works on the same concept but uses alchohol instead. its more expensive but not cancerious. mtbe prolly wont be around much longer because of ethanol. my 2 cents from a lecture i rememebred in chem 110..

Ok, now I have a question. Do the major gas companies/stations (Shell, Amoco, Chevron, Mobil, etc.) use this MBTE? When you get gas, is it posted anywhere? Thanks.
