Removing Chrome BAR from 97-99 front grille

Does anyone know how to do this? I need to remove the bar so that it can be prepped and painted...I do not want to leave it on the black housing, because I want the black housing to remain black when the grille gets painted.
Thanks

It's molded as a single piece, the chrome can't be seperated. Just mask off the black areas.
