My brother bought a 1996 maxima last year for me for $2000 it came with out anything and a key. there is a security light that blink at times but today for some strange reason the alarm went off ( i had no idea i have an alarm, Duhh) and i didnt know how to turn it off.
if you are an owner of a 1996 maxima and i have a security light tooo will u please let me know how to turn the alarm off when it went off. and also can that alarm be shut off with a remote or something. Please help me out i dont want to run and hide next time when my alarm went off again. Thank you, Lynn

smarter people correct me if i am wrong....it goes off when someone reaches through the window and unlocks the door....and the other case that i have found is if you try to jump your car off when you have a de3ad battery....the only way to turn it off when you have the battary problem is to put the key into the driver side door and turn it has if you were going to unlock the car....any other time it goes off you should be able to press unlock on your key chain and it stop or you can just put the key in the ignition...

Ball2687 thank you for your reply i'll be sure to use the key to unlock the car to turn the alarm off instead of running away next time. Also you said that i can press unlock on my key chain to stop it. Did u mean one of those cute little remote people have?? my car didnt come with one of those thing. do you know how i can get one?? thank you, (im sorry but i am not car smart.)

Ebay usually has a couple of listings of remotes you can buy. They're considerably cheaper than the dealer, but on the down side, you'll have to wait a little bit before you can get one.
