'96 Max alternator replacement difficulty level?
Hi,
I believe that my alternator (voltage regulator) is malfunctioning (overcharging) as the power equipment (windows, wipers, lights, etc) are acting hyper. By hyper I mean the windows go up and down very fast and the wipers are on 'speed'. The dealer said to replace the alternator, but wants about $500 plus labour (in Ontario). I can have my original unit rebuilt for a fraction but need to remove and reinstall the unit myself. I have a Hayes manual, but am wandering how difficult is it to do the removal/reinstll by a DYI? What are the pit falls that may not be covered in the Hayes manual?
Thanks,
