Error Codes and Hesitation

Read the thread where someone described grounding an MAF. What the heck IZ that? Wondering if that would help my problem...

Anyway, my CHECK ENGINE SOON light came on this past Tuesday. Next morning I took it in to a shop to get diagnosed. They got code 301 and 325 errors. Since the car hadn't had a tuneup since I bought it last year (and I am not sure when it had one last), I paid for a tuneup. It runs smoother but the slight hesitation which occurs while driving or accelerating sometimes is still there. not all the time - intermittently.

Car has been doing this interesting "bucking" thing for the past 2 weeks, and sometimes when you are driving it will seem to hesitate, as if the engine isn't getting gas for a second, then it will pick up where it left off. Sometimes it jumps ahead when it is in 1st gear and moving at a very slow speed.

The tune up helped with the power and the code light went out. But the mechanic said the knock sensor should be replaced for a price of $405 including parts and labor.

Car has also been making this rubbery scraping sound under the hood/front end somewhere. No one at the dealership can replicate the problem so as far as they are concerned it doesn't exist. But it works my nerves. How would I know if the problem is a loose or broken motor mount? Could it be a boot problem?

Anyone with repair experience have thoughts on what issues might be here?

I found out that my KS is dead. Can just this sensor make the car lose power and hesitant. Also, what do I need to do so I have permission to use the search function?

Where do I get the part cheaper and how do I install it? I am reasonably mechanically inclined, but have never worked on a car since I had an old MGB-GT back in college. I assume there is a manual I can buy - which one do you recommend?

The knock sensor code alone (0304) will not trigger the SES, but you can throw the computer into diagnostic mode and check to see if the code is there manually.
