Y-pipe with Stock muffler

How many people have a aftermarket y-pipe with a stock muffler. I hate the way my car sounds with the POS aftermarket I have and don't have the money right now to get a 2k muffler so if I go back to the stock unit will I still get good gains.

Re: Y-pipe with Stock muffler

I have a y-pipe with stock muffler and added a stainless steel exhaust tip (3-inch) that helps accentuate the sound; not loud, just a unique little rumble that gets noticed. If I would have added a 4-inch exhaust tip, the sound would be a lot meaner.

Y-pipe stock cat-back here.

Sounds almost like stock. There is a small gurgle at low rpms, between 2K-3K. Besides that it sounds completely stock.

Y-pipe with stock catback here as well... In the winter when the car is really cold it sounds a bit louder than stock, I like it though. If you give it a little gas while in neutral it sorta gurgles..

I have a stock muffler on with a Budget Y. You hardly notice any extra noise with the Y. I strongly suggest going with a stock muffler if you don't like the extra noise.

yup, you will feel gains with a Y and stock exhaust. I ran that way for the past year and a half. I just added a cattman B last month and found that if I don't use the stock muffler, it's loud as heck, so I stuck with my stock muffler and added a 3inch tip.
