question about 97-99 rear end conversion...want to make sure

Will a 97-99 trunk lid fit onto a 95-96 Maxima without getting a 97-99 rear bumper? I rather not have to buy a 97-99 rear bumper.

no bumper needed, but you are gonna have to modify the locking system. The rod was too long(as least on mine) and had to be cut.

Battle Max V2.0: I know about that post. I searched before I posted this thread. That thread didn't help me much. Thanks anyway.

Mad Dhan: what did you do exactly to the rod? What was it hard to modify it? If a bumper isn't needed, that's good news because I'm bringing the trunk lid in to a body shop on Tuesday.

no they match just fine. I changed my outer lights to 97+. I did a full conversion.

Just got the trunk lid back. It looks good. Even got the key hole shaved. I just ordered a set of 97-99 red/clear tails from Custommaxima. Hopefully there won't be any delay in getting them. I'll have to wait for the tails to get to me before I put the trunk lid on.

You can keep your 95 bumper but your gonna have a slight gap between the lid and the bumper, thats why I got a 97 bumper and got it over with.

BTW: Ant I just did the front 2 weeks ago, I will be posting pics soon.

so if you purchased a 95-96 catback exhaust for example.... w/ the 97 bumper, does that mean the exhaust would be too short? or i take it fitment would be fine, but as for the exhaust tip being below the bumper... wouldn't it be a little behind?

Slight gap? Hm...as long as it's not too bad, it shouldn't bother me.
