hey guys!

i just bought a 1996 se,and the chek engine light is on...but when i looked at the car before i bought it..that light was'nt on.. i took the car to great bear for a computer diagnostic,and they told me all 3 o2 sensors was bad.then i took it back to were i bought it and his computer sai d it was a bad sensor in bank 1... the light went off and then an hour later it came back on...any input on the cenerio here.thanx

 

if you just bought it, it should be covered under the lemon law for 90 days or 3,000 miles. Tell them to fix it! Otherwise check the codes yourself and replace the one that its says is bad.

 

If I remember correctly, your year might have been affected by a recall on the fuel system (and possibly O2 sensors). Perhaps someone else with better insight can post on this thread.

 

I have a 96 SE also and the CEL is on again. I had changed the EGR valve but the CEL came back on after a few days. My code is still 03 02 as it was before. I saw the note in this thread about a possible recall and will check into it. Please let me know if you find out anything else. Do you know what code you had?. I also believe my miles per gallon has dropped.

 

According to Nissan USA there are no recalls for the 96se.
