it does add some additional quantity of fluid thru the system which as it ages will aid marginally in keeping the protective qualities of the oil a bit more in the good zone...but type of fluid makes all the diff...try AMSOIL synthetic for smoother shifts and lower tranny temps.

Are you really gonna see any better shifting using synthetic fluid in the automatic??,,I have a 96 gxe and it seems to shift smooth with the regular trans fluid.

Sythetic fluid will help during extreme conditions, such as cold shifts in the morning, or stop and go traffic. A cooler will help during stop and go traffic or driving up long San Francisco hills.

I have a B&M cooler and Redline D4 ATF. They work great.

If you drain the old fluid, how important is it to get all the old stuff out if you are putting in synthetic, if some is left is this a compatibility problem?

not with the Amsoil...I only speak as a user and have put it in many cars and trucks and was very impressed with the feel and change in the smoothness...

bo I am not a dealer...

Since changing to synthetic ATF my shifting does appear to be a lot smoother. I also added a transmission cooler. Since I live in hot Florida, a tranny cooler seems to me like tranny insurance.

adding a cooler will not improve your shifts.

it is somethig you should get if you get a VB upgrade to your tranny

VB mod will improve shifts. Tranny cooler will only keep the temp of the ATF down and should be used if you tow stuff with the Maxima(hope not!)

-OR-

If you have a VB mod you will need the tranny cooler.

The cooler prolongs the life of the ATF by keeping the fluid temperatures lower. Heat is the leading cause of Automatic transmission failure along with keeping old tranny fluid in the car too long.

valve body modification, it gives an auto tranny firmer quicker shifts, especially from 1-2.
