anybody replace the hood struts before?

1. do you need to unscrew the mounts first, or just attempt to remove the cylinders from the round end of the mounting bracket by brute force?
2. to attach new ones, do you just "pop" the mounting socket on the round end of the bracket with equal brute force?

just unscrew the mounts from the hood and strut tower.

 

Unscrew the mounts. The new hood struts should come with new mounts. The ones I bought had a lock ring. So you install the new mounts, put the hood strut on and then snap in the lock rings.
