take off the pillar completely then you have to drill a hole from under the fender to the back of the pillar to the engine bay

I just did mine too....take off the front left wheel and remove the fender well lining. inside on the firewall is a big grommet you can run wires through. it comes out on the inside underneath just above the dead pedal. its easiest to just stick a clothes hanger through and pull the wires. then use the clothes hanger again to pull the wires from underneath the dash up through the side of the dash where the a piller meets it. it takes a little while to get the wire through cuz there's lots of stuff in the way, but its not real hard.

I used the wires from the speaker grommet on the inside hinge area of the DS door...just pierce and pull...it takes some creative hand work to get the wire started behind the fusebox...

thanks for the help. will the coat hanger thing work from going from getting the wire from the dead pedal area to where it'll meet the gauge pod on the a-pillar? i can handle the rest, it's just getting it through that area that's a b@#$%.

What I did was run a thick wire down the hole at the base of the A pillar first until it shows up behind the fuse box. Then I taped all of the wires together to the thick wire that is still exposed at the base of the A pillar. Next I pulled the thick wire that I left dangling behind the fuse box slowly and that will pull down the bundle of wires with it. Kind of like threading a needle.

I set min eup the same way blackcat is describing and ran wires through the grommet hole to the engine bay. I also drilled a hole in the clutch punch out are on the firewall ( I am auto).

Take your time and do it right cause it is a ***** if you need to redo it.

I'm auto too but instead of drilling an extra hole there is a little hole by the front strut that I threaded the wires through. I had the loose wiring tucked underneath the inner wheel cover and then come down into that hole.

well, i just wanted to run the wires through the firewall, but the power wires i just ran at the same time for my amps takes up the existing room for that kinda. it seems to be an endless battle to fit my drill in there for a new hole. where's this clutch punchout hole at? i'm trying to avoid jacking up the car if possible (mainly just cuz i'm lazy :P ) and prefer having those wires coming out the same area as my others.
