I have a 96 maxima and I'm looking to upgrade the factory muffler. I can't afford the whole catback system now, so I'm wondering what kind of muffler other maxima owners recommend. I'm looking to buy one online if possible. Thanks in advance.

theres a bubch of different mufflers to choose from including:

-Apex'i
-Stillen
-GReddy
-Flowmaster
-FlowTech
-Magnaflow
-Dynomax

Etc Etc

As for sound, its all a matter of taste

Well, if you can't afford a catback, then you won't be able to get "the best muffler" either. Borla supposedly makes some really good mufflers, and since you get what you pay for.. they aren't cheap. Magnaflow would probably be your best bet.
