Anything tricky about changing the rear brake pads on a 98 Maxima?

Hey fellas. I tried to search, but it wouldn't let me. I think my account is still awaiting activation or something, but it lets me post, so I thought I'd try that.

I plan on helping a friend change his rear brake pads this weekend, anything specific about the Maxima brake set-up I need to be aware of? Are there any DIY's online you know of?

Thanks.

you need a pair of needle nose pliers to twist the face of the caliper piston into the caliper housing

or like I did was buy the 3 dollar tool that fits on a socket and just twist it in...do not use a C-Clamp on the rears...

as well you need to remove the e-brake spring in somecases of working on the rear...ensure you replace this appropriately before driving...

if you look at motorvate.ca for help there is some additional info there.

Be real gentle with boot at the end of the e-brake cable. I busted mine & had to replace the whole cable. When you turn your piston, make sure the rubber boot/sleeve doesn't get snagged on the edge of the piston. You don't want that to tear.

another thing that you do have too watch for the little nipple on the brake pad and line it up with the hole on piston on the caliper its a pain sometimes you have too get your head behind the rotor to make sure they line up

when doing this first time, putting back the ebrake spring/assembly together will be VERY tricky.. phew it was a nightmare when I did my rear brakes for the first time.. you'll know what i'm talkin about IF YOU GET STUCK. Post again when that happens and I'll give you a very detailed instructions.
